Says they are Brave bringing Life into the World and Deserves Quality Health Care

Mothers’ Day: On the occasion of Mothers’ Day, May 10, 2020; the Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO chief) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has extended his wishes to all the “brave women bringing new lives into the world” – mothers.

In a #MothersDay tweet he posted at exactly 11:04 am, Dr. Tedros noted that “every woman deserves access to quality healthcare and safe childbirth”.


“Unfortunately, over 800 women die every day due to preventable causes related to pregnancy & childbirth”, he regretted.

In subsequent couple of tweets, the World body added: “We celebrate all mothers out there who brought new lives into this world. Improving maternal & child health is a WHO priority, today and every day.

” Preventing deaths and complications from preterm birth starts with a healthy pregnancy. WHO recommends antenatal care that includes a minimum of 8 contacts with health professionals throughout pregnancy to identify and manage risks.”

Meanwhile, thousands of internet users, organisations united to mark the Mother’s day and poured in unique wishes. From actors to politicians, everyone expressed their gratitude for ‘everything’ that mothers do for their children.
