Following weeks of speculations, President Muhammadu Buhari has eventually settled for former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari as his new Chief of Staff.
Gambari’s appointment was announced only a while ago by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, at the weekly Wednesday Federal Executive Council meeting in the Aso Rock Villa.
The appointment is coming after the demise of Mallam Abba Kyari; the former Chief of Staff who last month dies of COVID 19 complications.
The Kwara state born 75 year old diplomat has held several leadership positions at both national and international levels and has built a network with governments across Africa and the world.
He was Minister for External Affairs between 1984 and 1985 (under Buhari’s military regime), United Nations Special Committee Against Apartheid (1990-1994) and Under-Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Department of Political Affairs between 2005 and 2007.
The seasoned scholar and diplomat is the pioneer Chancellor of the Kwara State University amongst numerous other intimidating academic credentials in his possession.
